How Knowledge Hub can help build your professional network

Connections: build your professional network

Building your professional network is becoming more and more important. So how can you make the most of your Knowledge Hub membership to do this?

Connecting with members on Knowledge Hub is quick and easy and allows you to start to build your professional network within the public sector, and with those in other sectors who are working to improve public services.

'Connect' screen shotBy connecting with colleagues you’ll enrich your Knowledge Hub experience and increase your knowledge sharing and learning opportunities. Knowledge Hub members are seeing the benefits of connecting and sharing online, like Melissa Whittle from GeoPlace who says, “I would not have such a good connection with our community as I do now.”

When you ‘connect’ with’ other KHub members, including people you’ve met at events or subject experts, you are building up your network. You’ll get an insight into the conversations, documents and information that are relevant to them.

Robert Nowak from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service uses Knowledge Hub to connect fire authorities and local authorities and says “Sharing what we are doing has improved and increased our knowledge base, providing us with a way to tap into knowledge and access relevant documents as soon as they become available.”

The ‘connect’ option is two-way, meaning the other person also has to confirm the connection. This allows for greater access to information of mutual interest. You can also see when your connections are online at the same time and you can have a conversation with them through the ‘online connections’ instant messenger located at the bottom right of each page.

So, get connecting and build your network to make sure you make the most of the Knowledge Hub, its broad range of members and their expertise.

You can connect with people by clicking ‘connect’ on their profile. Why not start by connecting with the Knowledge Hub Team?
