Sean Derrig 11 Years Ago Shameful but typical reporting of this subject in the Independent this weekend; a dozen paragraphs of self-serving nonsense from Wakefield before anything remotely critical. And a journalist who can't be bothered with the most basic fact checking. They allow him to repeat his call for a single vaccine (which he had patented - one of the unrevealed conflicts of interests for which was struck off) despite their being less safe and less effective. He also claims unreported 'reciprocal uptake' of single vax after he had scared the hell out of every parent in the land. It was reported: MMR fell to 79%, single measles jabs rose to between 1 - 5%. Do the math. Or make it up like he did in the Lancet paper. The stuff about the legal cases is inaccurate smoke and mirrors. Given all the proof that this man lied about MMR for personal gain, how is this responsible journalism? And how does this help parents still worried about what's right? If anyone's in Cardiff for the healthcare conference on the 25th I'll be speaking on this as well as infection control; come and say hello - will buy you a cuppa! 1 Reply as... Cancel
