Celebrating 10 years of LG Inform

LG Inform is celebrating its 10th birthday this month! Ninety-six per cent of councils are signed up to LG Inform and on the 6th July the site passed the landmark figure of 4 million views. Users can review and compare performance with other authorities via the LG Inform themed reports or find a specific metric from the database containing 8,500 items.  

 

  1. Reports

Many themed and topic reports are available covering a wide variety of subjects. In addition, the information can be extracted and visualisations embedded on council websites to support local transparency. Here’s a selection of themed reports available on LG Inform:

COVID-19 reports:

LG Inform’s report writing capability has been used to create 13 detailed reports showing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on local areas across England. The scope of these reports covers cases per area, weekly deaths, care homes, vulnerable groups and first and second dose vaccination rates. Since the start of the pandemic, the Covid-19 cases tracker quick view report has been viewed over 340,000 times on LG Inform.

Green Jobs report:

The Green Jobs report on LG Inform provides analysis of the jobs required for a net zero economy in England, and where these will be located in the coming years.

Children’s Health and Wellbeing report:

LG Inform’s Children’s Health and Wellbeing report outlines several key indicators of children and young people’s health and wellbeing in any English local authority, including key health outcomes, measures of safety and welfare and wider health determinants.

Special Educational Needs report:

LG Inform’s Special Educational Needs report presents the statistics on SEND available for any English local authority, compared to your selected comparison group to help assess how well arrangements since the reforms are working and compare delivery across local areas.

Financial and Economic Hardship report:

The Financial and Economic Hardship report provides an overview of financial hardship and economic vulnerability in any English local authority as a result of Covid-19.  

 

  1. Metrics

The LG Inform database contains just under 8,500 metrics. In the last financial year, the most-viewed metric on LG Inform was the total daily cases of Covid-19, viewed over 44,000 times. The percentage of secondary school pupils with free school meals was the second-most viewed metric in this time range with over 12,000 views.
