CIL and the Environment Agency

I am due to do a couple of CIL seminars for EA officers and wondered if there was anything related to CIL that I should particularly focus on in terms of the EA engaging with CIL and your experience of working with them on CIL. Also if any of you have collected, or will be collecting, CIL for a big EA project or are worried about not being able to fund EA projects due to the s106 restrictions I would love to here from you. Hi Gilian,

This may come too late, but just to say that up until a month ago I was a Planning Advisor at the EA and am now in a new post as a S106/CIL Monitoring Officer at Sedgemoor District Council in Somerset. We have had our CIL go through Examination and are looking to adopt end of this year / early next year. We will have a large tidal barrier (approx £24m for the whole project) that will need to be funded through CIL to ensure that urban development remains safe for it's lifetime. The barrier is currently being funded by Section 106 linked to policies within the Core Strategy and associated SPD - though clearly this needs to change asap.

Thanks I am always interested in what different authorities are doing and will be looking at implementations and spending of CIL in a bit more depth soon - so I am likely to be in touch.
