Past Enforcement Practice Guidance

A colleague of mine has been instructed to read up (as part of a course) on enforcement. Apparently there is an archived DETR Enforcement Good Practice Guidance, but no date was given and no internet searches yielded any results. Any leads would be greatly appreicated

For starters try PPG 18 'Enforcing Planning Control', Circular 10/97 'Enforcing Planning Control & the accompanying DTR 'Enforcing Planning Control: Good Practice Guide for LPAs'. There is also the RTPI Practice Advice Note No.6 'Enforcement of Planning Control'.

Kim, Enforcing Planning Control, Good Practice guidance for Local Planning Authorities, is a DETR document from 1977, and was widely relied on where LPA's hadn't bothered to prepare an enforcement procedure in the past, and were in trouble with the Ombudsman. Hello Kim Try this as a user friendly introduction. Some of it has been superceded now, but it is a very useful starting point and is still available on the RTPI website. One of the very first tools I came to rely upon when I first set out 13 years ago; http://www.rtpi.org.uk/download/394/Enforcement-Handbook-England-.pdf I hope that this may prove useful.
