Designation - the next month

I thought it would be useful to share what happens next with designation.

On Friday 27th DCLG will publish the full data set for the 2 year period for the district and county matter major applications which are being measured for the purposes of designation.  All authorities will be able to see what their performance was for determining major applications in 13/16 weeks. Those who are at 30% of below will be contacted by DCLG, via letter.

You will have the chance to correct any data errors and also to let DCLG know of any exceptional circumstances (as to why you shouldn’t be designated) that you want them to consider. DCLG have made it clear, though, that these truly do need to be exceptional.  DCLG will decide on these before officially designating authorities in late October.

The data for the quality indicator, on appeals, will be published mid-end October.

We recently held two events for authorities who are worried about their performance, and you can see the presentations from DCLG, from PINs (about their arrangements for dealing with applications) and from PAS on PPAs and Extensions of time, and support, here
