Decision signing (last minute.com)

Hello all,

Does anyone have any 'best practice' in terms of decision signing? We are doing really well in terms of in time speed of decisions but we find quite a few decisions get sent in on day 56. We have an outlook decision signing box where decisions get sent in with a draft decision notice and a copy of the officers dele report. We are finding that decisions get sent in right on the last day, often in the afternoon, and this does not give senior officers enough time to sense check the decision etc. We have tried having a cut off of 1pm for signing, but still the problem remains. Officers work to day 56.

What good practice is out there? What works well for you? (other than having a big stick to stop last minute decisions!)

Many thanks yes

John

A big stick I once proposed (as a case officer) was to measure individual performance on "% passed for signing within 49 days" as opposed to "% determined within 56 days". No one else thought it was a good idea

Good morning,

We have a internal 'rule' where senior officers, who carry their own large caseload, are given three days to check report/draft decisions. It is hard to stick to though when most are nearing the determination date!
