Enforcement performance info

We're all used to metrics in DC such as BVPI times and the 150 cases/ officer standard. Does anyone have any similar targets for Enfrocement work such as productivity standards, expected turn round times etc. We are working with a standard to reach a decision on a case within 8 weeks and a time to close cases, both of which give a useful picture which would be more complete if compared with the performance other authorities are achieving. Any thoughts on this much appreciated. Alasdair Robertson Business Operations Manager Maidstone Borough Council

Performance

I've done this kind of work with quite a few LPA's in London. Some work in a similar manner looking at a timescale to reach one of several stages in the investigation. It is also common practice to have a PI for a first letter of response to the complainant, and the first site visit. Hope this helpful, Glen More.

My Authority uses the Citizen's Charter standards for enforcement set out at para 2.3 of the DETR document "Enforcing Planning Control : Good Practice Guide for Local Planning Authorities" - i.e. acknowledge complaint within 3 working days; update the complainant within 15 working days; and inform of decision to enforce within 10 working days. We also have a target to contact the offender and carry out the first site visit within 10 working days.
