I appreciate you sharing this important research opportunity. As someone who works closely with housing development and urban planning, I recognize the importance of the SUBDENSE study, particularly in light of the growing demands on suburban areas to make room for expansion. I would be pleased to share my knowledge of managing planning applications for conversions, subdivisions, and infill in suburban neighborhoods.

Alongside my career pursuits, I have written and published independently on suburban change themes; most recently, I have used Kindle publishing UK platforms to share my findings with a larger audience. I think this intersection of publishing and practice provides a special perspective, and I'd be happy to contribute it to the discussion.

Research study on suburban densification – can you help?

We are conducting interviews as part of the SUBDENSE research study, which explores densification in suburban neighbourhoods. We are inviting planning professionals working in the public sector to take part in our research by talking about your experience of handling planning applications for suburban areas — such as infill developments, subdivision of existing dwellings, and conversion of properties to residential use.

Please, get in touch with either me (mark.smith@liverpool.ac.uk) or my colleague Dr Tatiana Moreira de Souza (t.moreira-de-souza@liverpool.ac.uk) if you wish to participate or would like to learn more. We will ask you to share your perspectives by taking part in a 30 to 45-minute interview, conducted at your convenience via Zoom, Teams, or telephone. Your participation will contribute to a deeper understanding of suburban densification and the planning challenges associated with it.
