Ted, Neighbours are complaining that it ruins their view and council are suggesting it might need planning. I am at an early stage with this. If I can prove that it's a caravan then I can keep it there. Yes I have permission to put a caravan by law but they are suggesting it was not a caravan at the beginning.

What are the other ways of dealing with this you suggest?

Please can you explain why you want to prove its a caravan.

You already have approval to put a caravan in your garden without having anything at all in it now

Is it just that the counsel has companied that you need to get rid of it whatever it is.

If this is the case there are usually simpler methods of dealing with this mater.

How do I prove to the council that something is a caravan if it started its life as something else? In my case it was the back of an old van which I just raised onto bricks but it does look very large in my quite small garden. Also, does using something like this for storage and hobbies count as "habitation" or do I need to put a bed in it and sleep in it once in a while? Does the caravan have to be able to have things like a kitchen, bath etc. My personal research on this suggests that if its use is ancillary to the house then storage should be sufficient to prove "habitation" but obviously it's clean and dry so I could sleep in it if I needed to. Does "habitation" mean "sleeping" or "sleeping, washing, cooking, eating etc"?
