Published in October 2019, the Impact of Business Accelerators and Incubators in the UK Report explores how incubators and accelerators impact the start-ups they support, and which type of support drives this impact. It also examines how incubators and accelerators affect the wider business ecosystem.

The Report explores previous literature on the impact of accelerators and incubators, presents the findings of focus groups and surveys with accelerators, incubators and start-ups. The Report uses statistical regression analysis to measure the relationship between incubators and accelerators on start-ups and the wider economy. The Report then discusses the role of Local Enterprise Partnerships and their relationships with accelerators and incubators and provides a series of recommendations. The Report recommends that public funders should invest in pilot programmes and further research to understand good practice and the longevity of the impact accelerators and incubators have on start-ups.
