Published in May 2018, this report evaluates three Catalysts launched by Innovate UK covering Industrial Biotechnology (IBC), Energy (EC) and Agri-tech (ATC) in 2013/14, designed to accelerate the progression of Research and Development (R&D) towards commercialisation in these industries.

Catalyst programmes are competitions in which companies aim to create innovative solutions to challenges in a defined industry. This report analyses how effective the programme has been throughout the entire process. The report includes an appendix on case studies, some of which involve Northern businesses and collaborators, discussing the outcomes and lessons learnt.
