Published in July 2019, this Report expands on the Northern Powerhouse Independent Economic Review (NPIER) and TfN’s Strategic Transport Plan (STP), which set out a transformational vision for the North driven by infrastructure and skills investment. This vision is dependent on building enough homes, which could prove a critical blockage to achieving the lofty ambitions for the North.

The Report covers four challenge areas for consideration: the choices for growth; housing mix; affordable housing and elderly and student population. A breakdown of each of these areas is given in relation to the North. Various stakeholder comments are littered throughout the Report.
