Published in 2016, the Northern Powerhouse Independent Economic Review (NPIER) sought to characterise the North's economic performance and the drivers underpinning its performance. The Review was split into five key workstreams: Pan-Northern Capabilities, Performance Gap Analysis, Local Area Profiles, Panel Proposals and Scenarios for Future Growth.
