In June 2018, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) commissioned Eftec to develop a natural capital account for Greater Manchester, which assessed nine different benefits from natural capital in the GMCA area. These benefits amount to an annual value of nearly £1 billion (£930 million) per year which, assuming that these benefits persist over a 60-year time horizon, makes the natural environment a £25.2 billion asset to the people of Greater Manchester.
