Published in May 2022, Climate Action Leeds have undertaken an exercise to produce the Leeds Doughnut City Portrait, taking the Doughnut Economics approach pioneered by Economist Kate Raworth. Doughnut Economics is an alternative economic model that seeks to provide a world where the social foundational needs of every person are met, without overshooting the earth’s ecological ceiling, causing environmental damage. The Leeds Doughnut is a guide for developing a city planning process that can create a socially just, zero-carbon, nature-friendly Leeds by the 2030s.
