Are Planners in England Committed to Growth? A Survey of the Profession

Laurence Goodchild, Addaswyd 3 Mis yn ôl. Youngling Postiadau: 2 Dyddiad Ymuno: 31/03/26 Bostiadau diweddar

Claims are often made in academic planning literature that planners are committed to growth, and that this commitment is one of the barriers preventing planning from transitioning to a paradigm that is not dependent on growth. But is that actually the case? What are the views of planners on economic growth, urban growth, and the relationship of planning with the two?

In an effort to answer these questions I am calling upon practicing planners in England to respond to my survey, which should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete: https://forms.office.com/e/b24VnNRsHH

Responses will form a core part of the primary data undergirding my masters dissertation in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Birmingham.

Thank you for your time and apologies for this somewhat spammy post! If you have any questions or comments about this project, or would be willing to participate as an interviewee, then please do drop me a line.
