A report by former government adviser Richard Sloggett, has found areas in England with the most overweight and obese people also have the lowest rates of productivity, showing “obesity is an economic as well as health timebomb”.

This is such an inappropriate attempt to correlate BMI and GDP I am lost for words. There is a complex interplay between poverty, life opportunities, food affordability, the lifestyle choices available to you if you live in certain areas or fall into a lower socio-economic group and the impact on one's mental health all these things can have. It is also increasingly recognised that the GDP has its limits as a measure of prosperity/wellbeing across society. All this article risks achieving is people being stereotyped according to their body size.
