FNP Families meet the Minister for Public Health and Women's Health
On the 22nd of August the Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health, Jenni Minto MSP, met with parents who have taken part in the Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) programme in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHS GGC).
Over 1,800 families have taken up the programme in NHS GGC and 1,400 have graduated from the programme. We commend NHS GGC for the important role they have played in delivering the FNP programme. This has helped improve the lives of young, first-time parents and their children.
The Minister was delighted to meet with FNP families on the Play Talk Read bus and hear their experiences of being a new parent, the support they have received from FNP and the difference this has made to them.
A mother who is participating in the programme described experiencing trauma in her past but since settling in Scotland she has become an extremely ambitious young person wanting to better her family's life. She has a goal to become a midwife and has now joined a local women's group to support others in pregnancy and labour. She described her engagement with FNP as very positive.
The Minister then met with family nurses who provided an overview of their experience of working with families in receipt of the FNP programme. Systems and data managers also supported a discussion on the role of data in providing evidence and assurance for programme delivery.
The Minister thanked everyone for attending the event, sharing their inspirational stories and positive experiences of FNP.
