Evaluation

Published in July 2018, this report evaluates the four UEZ pilots launched by BEIS. UEZs are much like incubator environments, except with closer links to universities. Two of the UEZ pilots occurred in the North: Sensor City in Liverpool, a collaboration between University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores; and Bradford Digital Health Enterprise Zone (DHEZ) with the University of Bradford, in partnership with the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

The report discusses the challenges and opportunities they’ve faced, supported by surveys and interviews with tenants and other stakeholders. It concludes by discussing success factors and giving recommendations for each UEZ pilot. An appendix explains each of the UEZ case studies in detail.
