Published in June 2018, this report is a review of the existing literature surrounding the economic and social impacts of 5G in the context of the 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme.

The literature review has revealed a consensus that mobile broadband technology has brought significant benefits for consumers, businesses and the wider economy. However, the technology is still in its infancy and its actual use cases are still up for debate, making efforts to estimate its potential economic impacts differ greatly. This document does not discuss regional impacts and only discusses the impact on the UK as a whole.
