Published in July 2019, the report provides interim findings from the research of the ‘Building Better, Building Beautiful’ Commission into the national quality of home and place design.

The report is split into three parts covering the design challenge for new developments, what the commission has found so far from reviewing developments and how to create space for beauty within developments. This work culminated in eight priorities to reform the current planning system to meet housing needs while supporting design within the process. The report also has 30 policy propositions covering a diverse range of topics and elements of the planning system. These are to help enact beauty buildings, places and beautifully placed towns as well as the eight priorities for reform.
