Published in October 2019, Department for Transport’s ‘Public Attitudes Towards Self-Driving Vehicles’ provides an overview of research into public attitudes towards self-driving vehicles, including people’s expectations, aspirations and concerns. The Report discusses the potential impacts on people’s travel choices, society and the environment and looks at what needs to be done to make self-driving vehicles more acceptable to the public.

The aim of this Report is to inform the development of the Government’s strategy and regulation to connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) and to plan future engagements and awareness on CAVs using language that is familiar to the general public.
