Research

In this research IPPR North sought to understand how different communities will be affected by the climate crisis, working with them to develop a positive vision of the future. This involved speaking to residents of Anglesey and Liverpool City Region to understand their hopes and aspirations for their local communities and drawing out from this a common set of policy principles. In both places, residents had a strong sense of local pride, wanted more green space and places that bring the community together and wanted local residents to benefit from local assets and resources. The overall conclusion is that net zero can be made compatible with local needs if communities are empowered to drive this process themselves.
