Early census results demonstrate highly uneven demographic developments across the North of England. Population growth across the North has been muted compared to other regions, particularly in the North. But some areas are growing rapidly and getting younger, whilst other areas are experiencing population declines and an ageing population. This insight piece is an early reflection on some of the challenges this poses for transport policy.
