Are any councils using Apple Wallet membership cards for public attractions?

I'm interested in how local authorities are improving the visitor experience at council-managed attractions such as museums, heritage sites, leisure centres, and cultural venues. Many organisations are replacing physical membership cards with Apple Wallet membership card , making it easier for visitors to access memberships, receive updates, and present a digital pass at entry.

For councils managing multiple public venues, this could potentially:

  • Reduce the cost of printing and replacing plastic cards.
  • Make membership access faster at admissions.
  • Improve the overall visitor experience.
  • Support more sustainable, paperless services.

I'm curious whether anyone in local government has explored this approach or included digital wallet passes as part of a wider digital transformation strategy.

Have you seen any successful examples, or are there barriers such as procurement, integration with existing membership systems, or accessibility requirements?
