Does anyone have experience of dealing with development in an area where the water company has expressed concern over the capacity of the sewer, particularly during high rainwater periods, to cope with additional development due to groundwater infiltration into the main sewer resulting from decay of pipework and iillegal misconnections and disruptive access to remove surface water drainage? The obvious solution is for the water company to repair the sewer (apparently you can line it) and carry out enforcement around illegal connections but this will take some time.
