Accessibility - Mapping - Public forum - Planning Advisory Service (PAS)

With accessibility requirements now being in full swing, and applying to all the documents we put on our website as a local authority, we are looking at ways to make policies maps online more accessible. This may mean going from a fixed map (e.g. a PDF) to a more interactive format. Does anyone have best practice examples of how this can be successfully achieved?
