In 2014 the Employment Appeal Tribunal ruled that sleepovers were deemed ‘working time’ and that sleepover hours must be paid at the National Living Wage. In 2016 The Scottish Government made a commitment to paying the Scottish Living Wage for social care workers. The change to the way staff are paid for overnight support has significant financial impact on HSCP's already constrained budgets. Focus has moved to redesign some sleepover services.
