The TCA team has commissioned a large scale survey of Cornwall’s voluntary sector, following on from the earlier work done by Cornwall Council and Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum in 2013. (See http://www.cornwallvsf.org/new-infographic-on-vcse-employment-and-skills-in-cornwall/)
We have recently had the raw data from this back and are working through it to analyse the results. We are currently hoping that we can publish some headlines on the TCA Knowledge Hub page in a month’s time.
Meanwhile, we thought you might be interested in some initial feedback from 100 organisations who responded to say that they had current or past experience of being funded by Cornwall Council, the NHS or Europe (e.g. European Social Fund).
We asked them 12 questions about areas where they thought funding or commissioning arrangements could improve. Their top five areas for improvement for Cornwall Council were:
- More information about future funding intentions (72% said this should be a focus)
- Better communication with providers (67%)
- Better needs assessment (66%)
- Other models of securing services, such as grants or partnerships (65%)
- Joining up commissioning between health and social care (57%)
The top five issues were the same for the NHS, but the providers moved ‘other models of securing services’ up to third place ahead of needs assessment.
Overall 131 (66%) of 197 respondents were interested in seeking funding or being commissioned by Cornwall Council, the NHS or Europe.
