LGiU Caring for People theme update

Welcome to the June LGiU Caring for People theme update.

What we’ve been up to:

  • I just attended a really uplifting seminar on supporting people with advanced stage dementia with music. It was organised by the American charity Music and Memory who are seeking to expand their programme to the UK. And they've got some cracking evidence of cost-effectiveness.  I wrote about it here.
  • One of the key asks from delegates at our March roundtable on Achieving Outcomes Based Commissioning was for us to help sharing examples, progress and frustrations. To that end, we've developed a one question survey asking for your experience with Outcomes Based Commissioning.  We intend to publish examples (credited or anonymously) in the Knowledge Hub's Caring for People Group.
  • We recently published a new brief report on Achieving Outcomes Based Commissioning in Home Care
  • We are finalising arrangements for a development partnership for our social care app CoCare.  We hope to be able to make an announcement soon.
From our blog:
Recent briefings: Available to LGiU Members only. Not sure if your council is a member? Check here.
From others:

MPs have launched an enquiry into whether councils have enough money to meet their Care Act Duties and have issued a call for evidence.

Your stories
Don't forget to take our 'one-question' survey on outcomes based commissioning that we'll share in the Knowledge Hub. In the survey, you can also propose a topic for next month's one question survey.

The LGiU is majoring on five policy themes in 2016. This is the June roundup for Caring for People.  You can also sign up for updates from our other themes.
