Can anyone confirm if a caravan owner or owner of a second home is
able to day visit their property/ caravan to carry out cleaning or
other maintenance in preparation for occupation at Step 2 of the
Roadmap anticipated to be no earlier than 12th April 2021.
On this website https://www.independentcottages.co.uk/holiday-blog/coronavirus-considerations-for-uk-holiday-home-owners/
I found this information…..
Can we visit our holiday homes before 12th April for cleaning and maintenance?
We have had many owners ask if they can visit their holiday homes to
carry out essential maintenance prior to lockdown ending. PASC
received the following guidelines via DCMS which apply to England:
“from the 29th March people are permitted to travel to visit,
maintain, clean and collect belongings from their self-catering
properties and their caravans on parks which are currently closed,
but people should minimise travel where possible”
If you do need to visit your holiday home before the 12th April, it
is worth giving consideration to the sensitivities of your local
community and neighbours.
In my opinion, the PASC’s sole purpose is to lobby the Government on
behalf of professional self-caterers. These are not normally
second home owners, or owners that let their properties via agents.
These are small businesses that manage both the bookings and the guest
welcome themselves, and where the self-catering business is a primary
income stream for the owners. So in my mind this guidance is for
business’s that let their properties as a business not for
private owners.
With the information I have available to me it is my opinion that a
business owner can attend to their property to carry out essential
maintenance and cleaning but a private owner cannot. Thoughts?
