HMRC's Reference Architecture

The Government ICT Strategy, issued in March 2011, contained a commitment to publishing a ‘Reference Architecture’.  HMRC are leading on this.  They are working up models for

• Business
• Data
• Application
• Technical

The LeGSB led work to propose a ‘Public Sector Concept Model’ is now feeding into the ‘Data Reference Model’ (DRM).

I met with HMRC colleagues on 16^thDecember 2011, to walk through the Concept Models as a basis for the DRM.

At its simplest this will highlight the concepts that commonly appear in public sector data and prioritise the standards and master data approach to each , e.g. Person, Business, Role, Event, Service and so on.

HMRC are working to publish the reference architecture in March 2012.
