EU SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK 2019 - UDITE VEOLIA STAND
EU SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK 2019 - UDITE VEOLIA STAND
Starting 20 June 2019 09:30 through to 20 June 2019 12:30
UDITE - VEOLIA STAND "SMART
ENERGY SERVICES LOCALLY FOR A CLEANER PLANET"
THURSDAY 20th JUNE, 2019
UDITE and VEOLIA propose to bring 4 successful case studies in the fields for waste to energy, cleaner air, water treatment and district heating that have made a significant contribution to lowering CO2 emissions, improving air quality in our member's local authority areas across Europe. On an interactive level we will give visitors to our stand the opportunity to visit these facilities through basic AV and visual material. Through a vibrant and engaging display (see example jpg attached below) visitors will be given the key facts for each of these projects as well as an explanation of their business model that has brought together local authorities and the private sector partners. We will promote our stand at EUSEW to participants virtually through an active presence on the social networks (Twitter and LinkedIn) and by placing background content on the Knowledge Hub - www.khub.net - a virtual forum of over 180,000 local authority policy and decision-makers world wide.
Cities are already the laboratories for transformative and
sustainable solutions. Local authority regeneration and spatial
planning policies benefit significantly from an increase in exchange
of best practices and knowledge sharing as has been identified in the
Commission's recent "Clean Planet for All" communication.
Innovative communities, that link commercial and residential
developments through district heating schemes, incorporate good design
with sufficient green spaces are often major drivers for a successful
housing regeneration schemes that enable citizens to live closer to
work. Improving living conditions, reducing travel time, stress and
tackling the key health determinants are vital locally if we are to
create the conditions for happy and healthy communities in the future.
The local authority Chief Executive is at the heart of all of this!
UDITE is a federation regrouping 15 national associations across the
EU to deliver new approaches, learn about experiences elsewhere and
create new links between our
cities and local authorities. Long
term green investments in our cities sustainable infrastructures and
mobility solutions from public and private sectors are vital. For us
to achieve this, local resilience strategies are an essential part of
local government's mainstream role if we are to protect our citizens
from the adverse effects of changing climate by planning and building
public infrastructure to withstand future extreme weather events.
Through exchange of experience and capacity building, UDITE is keen to
reach out through our stand to the EU institutions and other key local
and regional government networks/associations participating at EUSEW
(in person or virtually) who can help in building the role and
capacity of our city managers and local authority CEOs to act now for
the future of our communities.
Through our 4 case studies we will be able to show visitors the
'cornerstones' of smart energy solutions for energy performance in
cities and local authority areas including
1) Digital sytems capable of real time monitoring,
2) The "Hubgrade" - for performance and metering for energy savings that are informed by real time data and
3) Reporting and awareness of changing trends to optimise the day to
day management of networks/infrastructures.
Visit our stand between on Thursday 20th June between 09.30 and 12.30 at Residence Palace, Rue de la Loi 175, 1048 Brussels.
