Interesting reading, John. Can you comment further on the source of the information? Who wrote it and when was it published? Is the file available from a government website, should I need to point a colleague towards it? Thanks Alex

Hi Alex The note was kindly produced by David Evans from the ICO. I dont think its available on a government website, but will check.

Thank you for sharing this note. In Wales we are promoting the Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information as the single consent-based approach to multi-agency sharing for all sectors. Use of the WASPI framework can help to ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements for disclosing or sharing the personal data of individuals, including the Data Protection Act 1998 which is regulated by the ICO. The Information Commissioner has endorsed WASPI, recognising that there are "real benefits to its adoption across Wales". For more details visit the WASPI website http://www.waspi.org
