Pharmacy teams - seizing opportunities for addressing health inequalities
Pharmacy teams - seizing opportunities for addressing health inequalitiesUploaded by Melody Dhinda-Rees, 10/09/21 15:51 A briefing on the role of pharmacy teams in addressing health inequalities.
The PHE pharmacy team working with the PHE health inequalities team has developed a briefing which sets out the important role that pharmacy teams, located in the heart of communities, can play in helping to address health inequalities.
The briefing makes recommendations on how Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), Primary Care Networks (PCNs), pharmacy leaders, commissioners, and pharmacy teams themselves can further enhance the contribution of community pharmacy teams to addressing health inequalities. It includes suggestions of how pharmacy teams can make the most of their potential to work with local community and faith leaders, reach out to under-served communities and those with the poorest health outcomes, and to take on a health inequalities leadership role.
We hope you find this briefing helpful. We would be grateful if you could share this resource with any relevant stakeholders or networks.
System leaders such as ICS pharmacy leaders, PCNs, Directors of Public Health, NHS leaders and public health and pharmacy professionals, and organisations which support them, and anyone with an interest in reducing health inequalities.
