We wanted to share with you our new information leaflets, which reflect our current services for unpaid carers here at Edinburgh Carers Council.
We provide Individual Advocacy services for unpaid carers of: • people with eating disorders living in the community or in hospital; and • people in mental health settings in Lothian who are in a period of transition We also provide opportunities for carers to be involved in Collective Advocacy. Our Carers Forum meets bimonthly and is a great setting where carers can raise awareness of issues which are important to them and work together to bring about change.
Through our Peer Services, carers can meet others who may be in similar situations. This includes a specific service for carers and siblings supporting an adult, child or young person with an eating disorder. We also facilitate monthly peer support groups and have volunteering opportunities for carers interested in using their experiences to engage in 1:1 support and help to facilitate groups.
You can find attached a PDF of our leaflets in this email. Feel free to share with carers who may benefit from the service and your colleagues. I'd be happy to deliver some physical copies to you, please let me know if you'd be interested!
