Getting Public Space Protection Orders right - what have we learnt so far?

Events - Public

Starting 05 Jun 2018 - 10:00 through to 05 Jun 2018 - 15:30

This LGA event looks at how Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) are being used in local government to tackle anti-social behaviour, providing an opportunity for councils and our partners to share the lessons learned and discuss best practice. PSPOs have been a source of controversy in many areas and in the media. In light of this, the Home Office updated its statutory guidance in December 2017 with new changes, including updates on homelessness and groups of young people.

We will be hearing from local government members, as well as community safety teams, the police and wider stakeholders who have been involved in PSPOs to hear about their experiences.

The event will look at good examples of conducting a consultation process and highlight some of the challenges councils might face on PSPOs. We will also consider the alternatives to deciding on the PSPO route and the other tools available to tackle anti-social behaviour.
