Retail and Town Centres in Historic Places

This event will:

• Examine the state of the retail sector and development trends   within it through analysis of case studies of ‘in town’ retail development in historic areas.

• Explore wider town centre management issues in historic  areas with a view to identifying key principles for success.

• Hear from both retailers and developers actively operating in historic places as to what are the advantages, opportunities and challenges

• Disseminate key messages in managing and delivering a quality local historic environment.

• Offer advice and expertise to ATCM members in managing and curating their town centres and on the benefits that a focus on heritage can bring Guest speakers:

Carol Pyrah, English Heritage Planning & Conservation Director will tell us how heritage can play a key role in protecting and reviving town centres and high streets

Charlotte Dodgeon of Heritage Lottery Fund will look at the Townscape Heritage Initiative

Martyn Chase, Director, Stanhope plc will provide a Developers perspective

Hear ATCM case studies from:

Exeter, Rotherham and Hitchin

Plus panel discussions, Q & A sessions and opportunities to network with a range of people.

Fee: £30 for ATCM members  £50 for non ATCM members
