Recycle Week 2012 will take place on 18-24 June. Recycle Week is organised by Zero Waste Scotland under the Recycle for Scotland brand and is delivered to the public by a range of partners across Scotland. And through UK partners under WRAP’s Recycle Now brand.

These partners include local authorities, retailers, brands, schools, businesses and community groups.

ZWS would be thrilled to have your support!

Recycle Week takes place from 18–24 June and has a broad overarching theme of ‘Recycling – at home and away’.  The theme is accompanied by an optional material focus on ‘plastic bottles’ for those that would like to increase collection rates of this material.

Data shows that 88% of Scottish councils now offer a plastic bottle collection service for households, yet the actual percentage of plastic bottles collected is only 26%. A focus on plastic bottles during Recycle Week, and especially the range of plastic bottles that can be recycled, will help identify what can and can’t be recycled, and in turn, help to improve the quantity and quality of material collected.

ZWS have produced a guide to Recycle Week for local authorities and businesses, with ideas on how you can get involved, along with contact details for Zero Waste Scotland’s support service.
