Friends of the Earth Scotland would like to invite you to a FREE conference on extractive industries on Saturday 23 June from 2-5pm at the Augustine United Church, 41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EL.

The agenda will be:

CARBON CAPTURE AND STORAGE
- THE ANSWER TO CUTTING CARBON OR A FALSE SOLUTION?

2-3.30pm

Our plenary session will be a discussion on on the pros and cons of Carbon Capture and Storage Technology (CCS). CCS has been billed by some as the solution to cutting carbon, and by others as a technofix. What do you think? Come and give your views!

Our guest speaker is Professor Stuart Hazeldine, School of GeoSciences, of the University of Edinburgh.

WORKSHOPS ON EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES

You then have a choice of three workshops to attend:

1. Fracking - Friends of the Earth Scotland's Activism Officer Hannah Kitchen will lead a training session on how to become a frack free town

2. Coal - Oliver Munnion and Daniel Milnes from Coal Action Scotland will run a workshop about coal mining

3. Corporate accountability - come along and find out about Friends of the Eath Scotland's new campaign targetting RBS, Cairn Energy and Bowleven
