OpenStreetMap & GIS for All

NORWICH - Thursday, April 17, 2014

6:00 PM

Speakers:

Steven Eglinton
Director, GeoEnable & Association for Geographic Information (AGI)
Chair, AGI East of England

In this presentation I will examine how Web Mapping and Location-Based Services (LBS), as a technology are very rapidly becoming a mainstream concept in IT and GIS information management. And used on a daily basis via smartphone to manage people's lives.

With examples, what one thought of as specialised tools, such as GIS, are now being ‘democratised’ and embedded in easy-to-use business processes and workflows.

With examples of how this could benefit both business and the general public, I will examine the main and most important trends in, ‘Geospatial’ and Location Analytics that affect anyone involved in spatial analysis or GIS - and beyond. These trends really are ‘game changers’ compared with the last 35 years of GIS and Location Technologies and need to be understood to leverage the potential

Shaun McDonald
Developer, ITO World

The talk will be cover the basics of OpenStreetMap, the data model, API, and where OSM is used in the real world.
