This practical one day conference will help officers and councillors to understand the major changes impacting on council licensing departments, not least the all important question of establishing locally-set fee levels for alcohol licences. You will also have the chance to discuss the proposals in the current consultation on the alcohol strategy and feedback your views to the Home Office.

The day will also explore the practical difficulties with incorporating a health objective into the existing alcohol licensing regime, particularly to consider what data can be used to provide an evidence base, measuring impact and lessons to be learned from Scotland.

You will have the opportunity to put the issues challenging your council to a specially-selected panel of local government licensing experts and to explore developments in some of the more specialist licensing areas that are of most interest to you, such as metal theft, charity collections and taxis.
