The recent horsemeat scandal has caused significant public and political concern regarding the integrity and safety of our food. This course has been developed to help enforcement officers to recognise and respond effectively to food fraud wherever it might occur in the food chain.
Who should attend?
This course is aimed at both Environmental Health and Trading Standards staff who are responsible for the enforcement of food law. The course will highlight the need for joint working both between different levels of local government and on a regional basis in order to combat food fraud.
The Programme
The programme will include discussions on which activities may be classified as fraud, where they may occur in the food chain and the appropriate enforcement options available.
