Lean! Libraries as Customer Value Catalysts: How Libraries Can Build on Their Assets to Move From Process to People - and why

This one day conference will showcase examples of public library services that are moving from process to people, by redesigning what they do and by embracing partnerships with growing ambition and boldness.

Public library services are facing up to the challenge of getting maximum value for our resources - better services and lower costs. "Lean thinking" can be a powerful tool to achieve this.

Successful lean thinking is more than a collection of techniques; it needs to be rooted in a culture that puts value, for the customer and tax payer, at the centre.

Being driven by value leads library services to to examine and consider how best to engage in partnerships for greater impact - going from "lean" to "leaning on each other" for mutual support and growth.

The day is also a great opportunity for networking - for us all to hear from, and share with other colleagues, with many other examples of best practice across the country.

-        Paul Blantern, Chief Executive, Northamptonshire County Council
