Sandwell Health's Other Economic Summit (SHOES)

Events - Public

Starting 28 Mar 2014 - 09:00 through to 28 Mar 2014 - 16:01

Sandwell Health’s Economic Summit (SHOES) will convene for the 15th year to think globally and act locally to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

Eminent world renowned speakers and experts in their field will share views and thoughts on this year’s conference theme – Fair, Well!. Their talks will cover wide ranging topics including human rights, environmental justice, climate change, food policy and health inequalities.

The conference will also be a memorable tribute to Dr John Middleton who is retiring as Sandwell’s Director of Public Health after 27 years. John has been instrumental for more than a quarter of a century not only in improving the health and wellbeing of local people but is the brains behind the SHOES conference. Each conference has led to some innovation contributing to making that little difference, that little change for the wellbeing of people in Sandwell and beyond.

Fees

Attendance is free for delegates from the West Midlands region. Those from outside the region there is a minimal £25 fee for day which includes a delegate pack and lunch.

Delegates are encouraged to sign up to a unique conference experience of using local money by volunteering two hours of their time to work in community projects of their choice through their local Time Bank.
