This is the second year of our  Making Transparency Work roadshows, intended to inform, demonstrate, share and learn what transparency and open data means and how local authorities, communities and local businesses can benefit and add value to the data by sharing and using it. Open Government is about local authorities opening up their data stores, letting citizens know what they are doing and sharing their data. At the same time, this drives efficiencies within councils and lets community groups and businesses use the data to add value

Each event will present an overview of current policies, practices, funding opportunities and the technical aspects of implementing open data. Local authorities will showcase how they have opened up their data with funding support through the Breakthrough programme. Speakers from the user and developer community will explore the opportunities for opening up data, to engage with people and use it in business applications. Afternoon workshops will give opportunities to share local authority experiences and to learn more about user engagement or the technical aspects of open data.

Events will be held on

9 June in Birmingham
