Making The Most of Your Access Forum

Events - Public

Starting 28 May 2014 - 10:45 through to 28 May 2014 - 17:01

It is over nine years since the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 required access authorities to establish a Local Access Forum (LAF), but are we making the most of them?

Operational and strategic demands on access professionals have changed over that period. Some access authorities have reduced or re-profiled the number of their staff dedicated to protecting, developing and promoting outdoor access. With the addition of increased recreational demand and decreasing budgets, the work of the LAF is more important than ever.

Throughout Scotland there is a range of LAF delivery models. Some LAFs require significant input from access authorities, while others are more autonomous and organise their own meetings and activities.

What can we do to make them all more effective and self-sustaining? How do we make better use of the experience, talent and enthusiasm of the members of our LAF?

Join us at this networking day to hear the success stories, find out how others have overcome management and performance issues, and to share experiences of how LAFs are working across Scotland.
