Westminster City Council’s licensing and Environmental Health Training Service has developed a training session specifically designed for Local Authority officers who will be responsible for the new Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013.  This Act will come into affect later this year and will replace the existing Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964 and Part 1 of the Vehicle (Crime) Act 2001 relating to the registration of motor salvage operators.   The training will provide officers with the information and knowledge necessary to enable them to prepare, implement and ensure compliance with this new licensing regime.  The course will cover the following areas:

  • The background and history of the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 and how it differs from the current regimes.
  • The licensing process and requirements.
  • What Site and Collectors Licences permit and the requirements to comply with them.
  • The considerations that are needed in setting an appropriate fee.
  • The transitional arrangements.
  • Offences and powers of inspection, etc.

The training session will take place on Friday 11th  October 2013 at Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6QP.  Registration will commence at 9:30am and the session will start at 10am.  Lunch will be provided and the training will conclude at 3pm.  A CPD certificate for 4 hours training will also be provided for those who require one.

The cost of this training will be £50 per person, which includes refreshments and lunch.
