Powering Ahead: Citizen involvement in the future of public services

The Fred Edwards Trust and the Scottish Community Development Centre, in conjunction with the internationally respected Highlander Education and Resource Center in Tennessee, have developed a unique action learning event for all those involved in re-defining the future shape of public services in Scotland.

The event will combine two ‘Skilled Citizen’ masterclasses, to be delivered by Pam McMichael and Elandria Williams from the Highlander Center, with a range of round-table action learning sets, each focussing on a specific topic area such as community empowerment, health and social care integration, climate change, social enterprise and land use.

Public bodies, third sector organisations and active citizens will bring to the table the issues facing them as they seek to re-define their roles and relationships to enable them to work more effectively together to transform public services and improve their communities. In the round table action learning sets, participants will help each other to work up possible solutions to the challenges that they have identified in advance, by sharing their own knowledge and experience and by drawing on what they have learned from the ‘Skilled Citizen’ masterclasses.

It is an event designed to equip participants with new knowledge, skills, ideas and inspiration to take back to their organisations and communities.

A number of bursary places are available for people who are not funded to attend by an organisation.  Please tick the 'Bursary request' box if you wish to be considered for a free place.

If you require to be invoiced by the Fred Edwards Trust, please contact the organiser.
